QR code generator
QR code generator with logo, colours and frames
Pick what goes in the code, style it, and download. Every design is test-scanned as you go. No watermark, no sign-up, and your code never expires.
How to make a QR code
You can create a QR code online in under a minute with the generator above. It runs in your browser, so there is nothing to download and no account to make.
- Choose the content. Pick Link for a web page, or Wi-Fi, contact card, email, SMS, phone, WhatsApp, calendar event, location, crypto or plain text if you need to.
- Fill in the details. Paste your link or type the text. The preview updates as you type.
- Style it. Start from a preset, then change the colours, dot pattern and corners, add your logo or put a “Scan me” frame around it.
- Check the scan badge. Each change is test-scanned. If the badge warns you, follow its advice before you download.
- Download. Save PNG, JPG or WebP for screens, SVG or PDF for print, or copy the code to your clipboard and paste it straight into a document.

Free QR code generator with logo
Many QR code makers charge extra for a logo. Here it is free. Upload a PNG, JPG or SVG and it sits in the centre of the code. Your logo is placed inside your browser, and we don't receive a copy.
A logo covers part of the pattern, so the generator raises the error correction automatically. That extra redundancy lets phones rebuild the hidden part and still read the code. Keep the logo under about 30% of the code's width and the scan badge will tell you if it is too big. For more on sizing and contrast, see the QR code generator with logo page.
Beyond the logo you can set the code colour and background, use a gradient, give the corners their own colour, pick a dot pattern (square, rounded, soft, dots, classy or leaf) and choose a transparent background. Save the result as your style in the browser to use it again, including for bulk codes.
QR code generator for a link or website
Most QR codes open a web page. Paste the full address, including https://, into the Link field and the code opens that page on any phone camera. It works for your website, an online shop, a booking page, a Google Form, a review link or a social profile.
The link goes straight into the code. There is no short link or redirect through our servers, so the code keeps working for as long as the page does. If you have a long list of links to turn into codes, use the bulk QR code generator instead.
Make a QR code on iPhone, Android or a laptop
This QR code generator works online in any modern browser, so you do not need a QR code app. On an iPhone or Android phone, open this page in Safari or Chrome, make the code and download it to your photos or files. On a Windows PC, Mac or Chromebook, download SVG or PDF for print, or copy the code and paste it into Word, Google Docs, Canva or an email.
Using a design tool? See how to add a QR code in Canva or add a QR code to Word. If you make codes for web pages often, the QR code browser extension makes one for the page you are on in one click.
What else can you put in a QR code?
Links are the most common, but a QR code can hold much more. NeoReader builds the right format for each so phones know what to do when they scan it:
- Wi-Fi: guests join your network by scanning, no typing passwords.
- Contact card: saves your name, number, email and company straight into their phone.
- Calendar event: adds the date, time and place to their calendar.
- Email, SMS, phone and WhatsApp: opens a message or call ready to send.
- Location: opens a map at the exact spot. Crypto: a payment request for Bitcoin, Ethereum or Litecoin.
For a PDF, image or video, upload the file somewhere you control, such as Google Drive, Dropbox or YouTube, set sharing to “anyone with the link”, then paste that link here. File hosting is coming soon with NeoReader Pro.
Designing a QR code that still scans
Colour, logos and rounded dots all make a code harder to read if you push them too far. That's why the designer test-scans your code every time you change it and tells you when something is risky:
- Keep the code dark on a light background. Light-on-dark codes fail on many phones.
- Keep strong contrast between the code and the background, including across a gradient.
- Leave a margin around the code when you print it.
- Keep content short. A long link makes a denser code that needs to be printed larger.
Best QR code size for print
A good rule is that the code should be at least a tenth of the scanning distance. For a business card or flyer read at arm's length, 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) is the practical minimum. A poster read from 2 metres needs a code about 20 cm wide.
For print, download SVG or PDF. Both are vector files, so they stay sharp at any size. If your printer asks for an image, choose PNG at 2000 or 4000 pixels. Our guide to QR code size for printing covers menus, signs and packaging in more detail.
Static vs dynamic QR codes
Many “free” generators give you a dynamic code that points at their own server and redirects on to your link, so they can switch it off, show ads, or charge you later. NeoReader makes static codes: your content sits in the code itself. Nothing sits in between, so they never expire and nobody tracks who scans them.
The trade-off is that a static code cannot be edited after printing. If you need to change the destination later or count scans, editable dynamic codes with scan analytics are coming soon with NeoReader Pro. Read static vs dynamic QR codes to decide which you need.
Is this QR code generator safe and free?
Yes. The generator runs in your browser, so we don't receive what you type or the logo you add. There is no watermark, no trial and no download limit, and the codes carry no licence fee, so you can use them on packaging, menus, flyers and adverts.
Because the codes are static, there is no subscription that can lapse and break them. If a code you made elsewhere has stopped working, our guide on why QR codes stop working explains the usual causes.

Questions
How do I create a QR code for free?
Choose what the code should hold above, fill in the details, style it if you like, and press Download. Logos, colours, frames, SVG, PDF and high-resolution files are all free, with no watermark.
Can I make a QR code without an account?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no email and no trial. The generator runs in your browser and you can download straight away.
Do QR codes expire?
A static QR code never expires, because your content is stored in the code itself. Codes from services that route scans through their own server can stop working if that service or your plan ends. NeoReader codes are static.
How do I make a QR code for a link?
Paste the full web address, including https://, into the Link field, then download the code. Phones will open that page when they scan it.
Can I put a logo in a QR code?
Yes, free. Upload a PNG, JPG or SVG logo in the designer. Error correction is raised automatically so the code still scans, and the live test warns you if the logo is too large.
What size should a QR code be for printing?
At least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) for close-up scanning, and roughly a tenth of the scanning distance for posters. Download SVG or PDF for print so it stays sharp.
Can I change a QR code after printing it?
Not a static code: the content is baked in. Editable dynamic codes with scan analytics are coming soon with NeoReader Pro, without the ads and expiry tricks other services use.
Is a QR code free to use commercially?
Yes. Codes you make here carry no licence fee and no watermark, so you can print them on packaging, menus, flyers, signs and adverts.
Is this QR code generator safe?
Yes. Codes are made inside your browser, and we do not receive or store your content or logo. Static codes also mean nobody tracks who scans them.
How do I check that my QR code works?
The generator test-scans every design as you edit it. To double-check a downloaded file, open it in the NeoReader QR code scanner or point your phone camera at the screen.
